Minsk European Games opening ceremony to involve over 1,300 people

Over 1,300 people will take part in the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games in Minsk on 21 June, Olesya Rulkova, head of the department for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC), said in the press center of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house, BelTA has learned.

“The opening ceremony will be about Belarus and its history. The script has been written by professionals: Aleksandr Vavilov from Belarus and Aleksei Sechenov from Russia. More than 1,300 people will be involved in the show,” Olesya Rulkova said. She noted that installation of stage equipment is going on schedule.

A rigging system has been finished, the next step is to install lighting and audio equipment. According to Olesya Rulkova, every day workers test the equipment at Dinamo Stadium. For example, the stage will rotate so that all spectators see the show well. Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete for 200 medal sets in 15 sports.
