Belarus president in favor of reforms, eager to build on existing accomplishments

There can be only one kind of reforms in Belarus – the improvement of the existing accomplishments. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he met with top officials and executives of the city of Minsk on 7 July, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We face very complicated tasks. It is impossible to accomplish them by reforms. Since many people talk about changes and reforms, I should explain my view of these reforms and how we’ve been reforming things so far: reforms in Belarus can go only in one direction – the improvement of what we have.”

He remarked that the country has the relevant competences and schools to do that.

“We face major tasks, tasks of huge importance that we have to accomplish. And we will reform things by improving, expanding, and deepening what we know how to do. By setting up new manufacturing enterprises. I am entirely in favor of reforms but in the form of perfecting what we have. Including education, healthcare, production sector or agriculture,” the head of state said.
